The site was acquired with the benefit of planning consent for 36 apartments in 2008. Maxam negotiated the presales of 40% of the apartments with a view to starting construction in 2012/13.
The collapse of the housing market required an alternative development strategy so Maxam negotiated the surrenders of the presold leases and obtained an offer from Premier Inn for a 62 bed hotel.
A new planning application is to be submitted in Q1 2014.
